Jeff Nielson is best known as “The Airline Pilot Guy” or “Captain Jeff” from the “Airline Pilot Guy” podcast. Having served seven years in the Air Force and an additional 30+ years as an airline pilot, we wanted to know what flights he remembers the most and why.
Adventure can mean different things to each of us, but for an airline pilot like Jeff, “adventure” is something you try hard to avoid. In this episode of the Adventure Flying podcast, we ask Captain Jeff how he makes flying a commercial airplane feel adventurous. His answer is remarkably simple: give yourself as many chances to fly as possible.
Since Jeff was a teenager, aviation has been his passion and to this day, it is his life’s work. He talks with us about how he began in the aviation industry, what changed, and why he chose to fly one of the smallest aircraft in the commercial fleet. He also gives us some insight as to how the “Airline Pilot Guy” Podcast, a show that was originally about being a catholic pilot, became one of the most popular aviation podcasts.
This is where Captain Jeff finds adventure and why he couldn’t imagine any other career besides being a pilot.
This is adventure flying.
