ICON Aircraft announced today the availability of the newest accessory to enhance the adventure flying experience for A5 owners. The first ICON Enclosed Trailer was completed in July 2022 and will be delivered to an A5 owner in early August. Additional trailers are slated for completion this summer and the second set of trailer deliveries is planned for early 2023. ICON has partnered with Sports Trailers LLC, a leading U.S.-based manufacturer of equipment trailers and car haulers, to develop and manufacture this accessory.
The ICON Enclosed Trailer is a secure and easy-to-use transportation and storage solution for owners interested in taking their A5 adventures on the road. The versatility and user-centric features are consistent with ICON’s design philosophy and enable owners additional flexibility in how and where they use the A5 amphibious aircraft.
“The ICON Enclosed Trailer has been on our product roadmap for several years now and I’m grateful to Sport Trailers for their partnership on this project. We are excited to get this new lifestyle accessory into the hands of our owners so they can have even more options for taking their adventures off airport,” said Jerry Meyer, CEO of ICON Aircraft.
ICON Flight Training is open to the public
ICON also announced that the company’s award-winning flight training program has increased operations and now offers flight training to non-A5 owners in addition to continuing to provide transition training for owners and authorized instructors. Since April, ICON Flight Centers in Tampa, FL and Vacaville, CA have hosted dozens of customers across all piloting experience levels. From seasoned seaplane pilots to the newest students, customers have had the opportunity to experience adventure flying in the A5.

New Signature Strata Gray livery on display at AirVenture
The centerpiece of ICON’s display at EAA AirVenture 2022 is a G3X-equipped A5 with ICON’s newest livery design, Signature Strata Grey. In addition to the Electric Green livery design unveiled last year at OSH, ICON recently released two new appearance schemes—Electric Blue and Strata Gray—both of which were delivered to owners in July 2022.
Momentum Continues to Build
Like other manufacturing and aerospace companies, ICON has seen supply chain and workforce challenges in 2022 as the world rebounds from the global pandemic. However, the company also continues to see momentum building in the market behind the introduction of the Garmin G3X Touch-equipped A5 and the new Signature appearance scheme. Nearly 80% of new orders include the G3X avionics package and more than half also include the upgraded appearance option. ICON has taken 31 new contracts so far in 2022 and has a current order backlog of more than $16 million. ICON’s Sr. Director of Global Sales and Service, Noah Collins, commented, “I continue to be encouraged by the velocity of sales we are seeing in the U.S. behind the new avionics and livery options for the A5. We also expect demand to continue to grow as we complete our Type Certification in the Primary Category by the end of the year.”
ICON will deliver ASN (aircraft serial number) 152 during the week of AirVenture 2022. The next forty (40) aircraft in production are already committed and ICON’s next available delivery position is late April 2023.
ICON is offering a special ownership program for AirVenture 2022 that includes a complimentary paint upgrade for any A5 sales contract signed during the week of the show.
