Shang Gong Group Acquires Flight Design

Vacaville, Calif., April 2, 2025 – ICON Aircraft, a leader in amphibious light sport aircraft, is now a sister company of Flight Design following a recent acquisition by the Shang Gong Group Co., Ltd. (SGG), which owns both companies. This exciting new chapter unites two of the most innovative names in light-sport aviation, expanding their opportunities for growth and collaboration.

Shang Gong Group, a globally listed industrial company based in Shanghai, has acquired Flight Design General Aviation GmbH and its subsidiary, Flight Design CZ, which will continue operating in the Czech Republic. The acquisition aligns with SGG’s strategy to strengthen its aviation portfolio and advance its commitment to high-quality, safe, and efficient aircraft.

As part of the acquisition, ICON Aircraft will collaborate closely with Flight Design to leverage synergies between the two companies. Additionally, we are pleased to announce Lily Hu as the new President of ICON Aircraft. With extensive experience in manufacturing and proven leadership, she will drive ICON’s success and collaboration with Flight Design. “It’s an exciting time for ICON, and I am honored to take on this role.
